What we do

The End of Life Option Act (EOLOA) is housed within the Division of Palliative Medicine. The division works to advance and innovate in clinical care, education and research in palliative care.

Dr. Brieze Bell is the medical director of the UCSF End of Life Option Act. She supervises a team of compassionate colleagues who provide EOLOA care to qualifying patients at UCSF, as well as support to their loved ones as they navigate this season of life.

Dr. Bell is an internal medicine, palliative medicine and integrative medicine physician with a passion for excellence in clinical care, medical education and operational leadership at the intersection of these three fields. She is passionate about providing interdisciplinary, gold-standard palliative care to seriously ill individuals and their loved ones.

She completed her Bachelor of Arts at Wesleyan University in Connecticut and attended medical school at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. Dr. Bell completed her Internal Medicine residency training at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, followed by fellowships in Palliative Medicine and Integrative Medicine at UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco. She is now a faculty member in the Divisions of Palliative Medicine and Hospital Medicine at UCSF Medical Center.
